A trip to Broga Hill

05 December 2012 - We made the first visit to one of the famous landmark and hiking hill in Selangor, The Broga Hill. The location of the hill is just around 5 minutes drive from the University of Nottingham in Semenyih.

Broga is the small town that's sit on border Selangor and Negeri Sembilan in Malaysia. It's situated around 50 km from Kuala Lumpur. It's not tough to hike and it takes roughly 45 to 60 minutes for the whole distance. There are four peaks to face up. Each peak have slightly different view and the further you go up, you'll see a fabulous landscape created. Although the hike is not too high, you may be surprised with the amazing view and if you climb at a dawn, sunrise is waiting to give you great scenery.

We reached the entrance of Broga Hill around 06:00AM. The journey begins after parked our car in a farm opposite of the rabbit farm. Around 30 minutes we have reached at the first peak. Climbing in the dark is quite interesting because all the light you have is only from the torch light and probably moonlight.

We rested for a while then we moved forward to another peak. After 15 minutes we have reached another peak (not too sure if this is second or third peak). The scenery and view were really nice. Our main objective to climb in the dark was to see the sunrise. Although the sky was bright but we couldn't see the rising sun, probably it was blocked by numbers of cloud.

Everyone is busy capturing the scenery photo with their smart phone and camera. Especially when tried out the “Panorama” camera feature, it was so fun to see that everyone is busy moving around for the purpose of having few different pose in one panorama photo.

It was indeed a great, fun and challenging activity. Also it was totally worth it to sacrifice a sleep for such great activity.

Things to remember / bring:
-          Good and comfortable hiking shoes with good grip
-          A torch light if you climb in the dark
-          Insect repellent
-          Water
-          Snacks / Food. ( Thanks to Crystal for prepared such a healthy breakfast )
-          A Camera / Smart phone with good camera feature.

Here some photo to make you feel great at there.

Christmas Decorations

Christmas is just 15 more days away. Look around we can see beautiful Christmas decorations especially in the shopping malls. I don't know about other kids but my Halley and Ryenne just couldn't keep their eyes off those beautiful decorations and lighting. They love to touch the Christmas ornaments on the Christmas trees. Well here are some of the creative and beautiful Christmas decorations in our local shopping malls.

Weekend Getaway

I could still recall the first time I pick up my shoes and started jogging.  I could barely jog continuously for more than 5 minutes.  I felt so weak and hopeless when my 8 year old daughter has done better than me.

She advised me “Mom, focus at the tiles on the road, start counting them and in no time you shall reach to the end.”

That was in year 2006, that's when i told myself i have to start jogging!!

Within the same year, all my families’ members engaged in these same activities.  We were heavily engaged in Marathon.  Our age were ranging between 4 years old to 77 years old.

This word “Marathon” made me a little nervous; Marathon is an endurance foot race cover 42.2kM (26 miles, 385 yards) and am I heading to it?  My knowledge on Marathon was so shallow then, they do have Marathon for 3KM, 5KM, 7KM, 10KM, 15KM,  25km, 30km beside the Half Marathon – 21KM and Full Marathon – 42KM.  Well, I obviously started off on the minimum KM with my children.

I would call it a great family outing or weekend getaway.  To be able to spend a fresh morning breeze, bright healthy sunlight and later with delicious breakfast, what else could anyone ask more?  In addition, the satisfaction, thrill and achievement when one touches the finishing line were indescribable!!

Along my involvement in Marathon, I have learned lots of good training information and met lots of friend with good advices and tips.  My greatest regret was I have yet to achieve the Full Marathon.  While my son has achieved Half Marathon, my husband has achieved Full Marathon, and I trust I will not give up on this.

And the ultimate contentment for taking part in Marathon for all these while was feeling Healthy and physically fit as ever, not only me, but my family’s member and friends as well.
