Anyone can scuba dive!

I started scuba diving in late 2010 after going for a snorkeling trip to Pulau Sipadan. It was the most magical and beautiful coral paradise I have ever seen. The diversity and amount of sea life you can see in just one place is amazing! Turtles, Barracudas, White tip Sharks, huge Humpheads and more. I decided that I will come back to Sipadan the next time as a diver and I did. It was awesome. Instead of looking at the beautiful marine life from above, now I am swimming among them!

People say it's dangerous and they have read stories about how accidents and mishaps happened to divers. Well, there is a risk of doing anything. Even your regular trip to your grocery store may or may not be your last. In fact, there are lesser injuries or accidents happened to extreme base jumpers compared to road accidents?

Anyways, scuba diving needs certification and safety is the number one priority. There are procedures and safety checks that need to be followed to ensure a safe and happy dive experience. Once you are underwater the feeling is amazing. Since I started scuba diving, I appreciate mother earth and the way I approach life is more positive compared to before.

To obtain an open water certification the price in MYR is between 500 to 1000+ depending on which Dive Center you decided to take your Open Water cert. There are a few certification bodies that issue these papers. The popular ones in Malaysia are PADI and SSI in my opinion.

Here's a short video compilation from my recent dive to Pulau Perhentian.

The Parts of Speech

I found an old English book from a shelf of books, something interest inside this book ……..

The Parts of Speech

The term part of speech refers to the job that a word does in a sentence – to its function or use.  Since there are eight separate jobs, words are divided into eight classes or eight parts of speechnoun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, interjection.

Job, Function, Use
Part of Speech

Examples
1.
To name a person, place, thing, quality, state or action.

Noun
Adam, London, pen, wit, joy, laughter.
2.
To substitute for a noun.
Pronoun
He, she, it
3.
To express action – or non-action (state of being).

Verb
Run, talk, think
Is, was, will be
4.
To modify (describe or limit) the noun and pronoun.

Adjective
Strong man, ugly city, limited quantity, few hours.
5.
To modify any verb, adjective, or adverb
Adverb
Think quickly, unusually ugly, very quickly.
6.
To show the relationship between a noun or pronoun and some other word.

Preposition
Cart before horse, dog in manager, bombs over Berlin.
7.
To join two words or two groups of words.
Conjunction
Jack and Jill; candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.
8.
To display emotion
Interjection
Good God! Heigh-ho! Hurrah!

A word is a noun, verb, adjective, or other part of speech, depending on its use – and on its use only.  That is to say, a word is a noun if it is used like a noun, if it names; it is a preposition if it is used like a preposition, if it shows the relationship between nouns; and so on.  In the following passage note that the round is used in five different ways:

As I round the corner of the building, I reflect that our round world spins round and round on its axis, at the same time making a circle round the sun that results in the round of the seasons.

a)                I round – verb, expresses action.
b)                Round world – adjective, because it modifies the noun world
c)                 Spins round and round – adverb, modifies verb spins.
d)                Circle round the sun – preposition, shows relationship between two nouns, circle and sun.
e)                Round of the seasons – noun, names something.

Merdeka Raya + Hari Malaysia = Holiday!?.

Source from Digital Community
Well, it's 16th September. Just wondering how many of us realize that this date is an important date in the history. Or it's just a holiday to most of us. And hurray because 16th September this year falls on a Sunday and we have our Monday off too.

Two weeks ago was our Merdeka day and this year we have double celebration too. Merdeka and Hari Raya together. Therefore we have this term "Merdeka Raya". I still remember trying to explain the meaning of merdeka to my 3 year old Halley. Not an easy task at all.

You know what, I ended up telling Halley well Merdeka in short means "Happy Birthday to Malaysia, our country"... It's not easy to tell her that Malaysia, used to be called as Tanah Melayu and was being ruled by others (the Portugese, British,...) then in 1957 Malaya was being announced as an independent country. And in 1963 Malaysia was formed with the joining of Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore and then in 1965 Singapore left us.

How do you explain "Merdeka" to your kids? Do share with us your experience. :)

Easiest napkin folding (standing fan)

Back during my hotel school days, this is one of the interesting thing that I have learned. Napkin folding. It's an art by itself and can really help enhance a dining table so it will look presentable, interesting and elegant at the same time. Depending on the theme of the day, you can get shapes like the bishops hat, rose, silverware pouch or the standing fan also popularly known as the Chinese fan to name a few.

The Chinese fan is one of the most easiest and gorgeous napkin folding in my opinion. With so little steps to follow, you are all set up for a beautiful dining party at your home. Try it for your upcoming party and impress your friends and guests!
