Anyone can scuba dive!

I started scuba diving in late 2010 after going for a snorkeling trip to Pulau Sipadan. It was the most magical and beautiful coral paradise I have ever seen. The diversity and amount of sea life you can see in just one place is amazing! Turtles, Barracudas, White tip Sharks, huge Humpheads and more. I decided that I will come back to Sipadan the next time as a diver and I did. It was awesome. Instead of looking at the beautiful marine life from above, now I am swimming among them!

People say it's dangerous and they have read stories about how accidents and mishaps happened to divers. Well, there is a risk of doing anything. Even your regular trip to your grocery store may or may not be your last. In fact, there are lesser injuries or accidents happened to extreme base jumpers compared to road accidents?

Anyways, scuba diving needs certification and safety is the number one priority. There are procedures and safety checks that need to be followed to ensure a safe and happy dive experience. Once you are underwater the feeling is amazing. Since I started scuba diving, I appreciate mother earth and the way I approach life is more positive compared to before.

To obtain an open water certification the price in MYR is between 500 to 1000+ depending on which Dive Center you decided to take your Open Water cert. There are a few certification bodies that issue these papers. The popular ones in Malaysia are PADI and SSI in my opinion.

Here's a short video compilation from my recent dive to Pulau Perhentian.
